Ugly Love was my 5th Colleen Hoover of 2021 and I enjoyed it just as much as the others. I can't say enough about the depth of her characters, they are so relatable, and multi layered! I also appreciate that none of her characters are perfect, they all have flaws or tragedies that have come through making them so real you want to go searching for them on social media. If you haven't read Colleen Hoover yet, do yourself a favor and pick up any of her books, I'm sure you will be happy no matter the title.
Now, for this book I loved the dual timeline allowing us to slowly get a peek into Miles past and see why he was struggling to take the leap into love. My favorite character has got to be Cap though, the grandfather like figure who mans the elevator in his retirement and quickly becomes Tate's go to for advice and friendship. My grandparents played such an important role in my life, it was nostalgic for me. What I wouldn't do to have one more conversation with each of them.
Either way Ugly Love will surely bring on some ugly tears but then like magic you'll be smiling through the tears and feel the need to tell someone all about this book you just read, the amazing love story, the need to not give up when life gets hard, the realization that we must keep our heart open and learn from the ugly loves of live so we can have the beautiful love.
