The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner isn't my typical genre but I fell in love with the cover artwork and heard so many people talking positively about it I decided to give it a read.
Its told in two time periods, past and present. Being historical fiction isn't my norm I thought I'd hang onto the present and enjoy it way more then the past but I was way wrong!
I really enjoyed the past narrative and struggled to enjoy the present. I get what the author was trying to do with the parallels but it fell short for me. The present sections just seemed so slow moving and clunky at times. Still in the end I felt like both past and present wrapped up well.
If you enjoy strong women and historical fiction you will most likely enjoy this book as well.
