Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir did not disappoint. I am not a big Sci-Fi person, I don’t even do Star Wars, but I kept seeing all these wonderful reviews about this book and decided to give it a try. When it’s a category that isn’t my typical, I usually go with the audio, and I highly recommend the audio for this title. It was well done and helped me to digest all the scientific information being shared (or when it was too much technical information, it allowed me to easily zone out about mathematical equations or quantum physics). But honestly, I barely zoned out, I found the way the scientific information was presented very clever and fast paced which kept me listening intently.
For me the thing that takes a book from good to great is the relationships. You’d think that a book set mainly in outer space would have little room for amazing friendships, but that is not the case with Project Hail Mary. I laughed out loud multiple times listening to the exchanges between Rocky and Grace and was left marveling at their bond to each other and their planets. And the ending, oh the magical ending! Definitely add this book to your TBR pile!
And on a side note, this illustration graced the end of my first book journal so be on the watch for a full journal flip through in the next few days.
